Choreographer Liz Roche (50) is the artistic director of Luail, Ireland’s recently formed national dance company. She has been commissioned by, among others, The Abbey Theatre, the National Ballet of China, and CoisCéim. In 2020 she was elected to Aosdána. She lives in Dublin with her husband and two sons.

I grew up in Dundrum in Dublin with my parents and older brother and sister. My grandparents, my mother’s parents, lived very close nearby. It was sort of cosy enough. My parents are family therapists. My mother was an occupational therapist with the health board, and then she became a family therapist. My father was a psychologist, he became a therapist then.
