Walton Goggins played the role of Rick Hatchett in The White Lotus alongside Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea. During his SNL monologue, Goggins joked about the unexpected attention he’s been getting from fans and the media, especially after his character’s brooding persona in the show. “I die in The White Lotus, but I guess my character is so brooding that the internet found it… attractive,” he said with a laugh. “Some of my friends even ask me, ‘Walton, what’s it like becoming a sex symbol at 53?’ Honestly, it feels fantastic!” However, seconds after flaunting his appeal, he cracked another joke, this one on himself, bringing up some of the headlines that had been written about him. One from Cosmopolitan read, “Are We All Horny for Walton Goggins’s Receding Hairline?” To this, Goggins jokingly replied, “I’ve had the same hairline since I was seven. It’s not receding, it’s holding its ground.”

Goggin’s spoke about his upbringing and added, “But you know what isn’t pretentious? My upbringing. I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, by my mother with the help of her three sisters and my grandmother. And my mama is the most important person in my life.” Seizing a chance to celebrate his mother on the occasion of Mother’s Day, the HBO star invited his mother onto the stage. The two started with a slow dance before surprising everyone with a special tap dancing routine. Later in the show, Goggins was joined by Sam Rockwell, who played the role of Frank, Rick’s close acquaintance in the show. The duo teamed up for a hilarious pre-recorded sketch and went on about a man with baby feet. This SNL appearance came just a month after The White Lotus Season 3 finished airing on HBO.
