NEWPORT – The North Country School of Dance (NCSD) would like to extend congratulations to the amazing competition team for their incredible work in Springfield, MA, the weekend of March 28, 2025. These dancers did an amazing job and really stepped it up and poured their hearts out on the dance floor.
“We loved seeing their passionate performances executed so well,” said Krista Hogge Co-owner and Artistic Director of NCSD.
The NCSD staff also did an amazing job with the choreography for these young talented dancers. Dance mom Donna Willis said she wanted to thank Charli Kellaway for the exceptional choreography for Lily Willis’s Title solo entry.
The Diamond Award is the highest medal that is given out in the Sheer Dance Competition, and the NCSD brought home several. The dancers also brought back numerous special awards, and the studio won the Studio of Excellence Award. This award best exemplifies the values of working together and striving for excellence. All NCSD dancers received either Diamond, Titanium, or Emerald awards for their outstanding performances.
“Song of Life” Ava Vanasse – Choreography by Krista Hogge. 2nd place out of 65 teen solos. Ava also brought home the ‘Fierce Focus’ special award, and the ‘Style Award’ and was the highest scoring solo for the Open Dance category.
“Bills, Bills, Bills” Lily Willis – Choreography by Charli Kellaway. 2nd place out of 12 teen Title solos.
“Rule the World” Natalee Demers - Choreography by Anissa Bathalon. 1st place out of 33 pre-teen solos. Natalee also received the ‘Cirque Du Slayyy’ special award.
“Fly” Kya Bathalon – Choreography by Anissa Bathalon. 1st place out of two small wonders Title solos.
“It is What it Is” Seth Locke – Choreography by Cassie Johnstone. 5th place out of 44 senior solos. Seth also brought home the Vicky Sheer Award, which is recognition for excellence in achievements above and beyond expectations both in the competition and the convention.
“Trueno” – Choreography by Anissa Bathalon. 4th place out of six, teen large group dances.
“Footprints in the Sand” Kya Bathalon and Lily Willis – Choreography by Anissa Bathalon. 1st place out of six junior duos.
“Somebody to Love” Choreography by Cassie Johnstone. 5th place out of ten senior group dances. This dance also received the ‘Choreography Award’.
“Side by Side” Solanna Hogge, Zoe Reinauer, and Ali Sevigny – Choreography by Krista Hogge. 1st place out of three junior trios. This dance also took home the ‘Best Use of a Prop’ special award.
There were also several dancers who received ‘Sheer Excellence’ award scholarships. These dancers were selected by the Sheer faculty, from all of the convention classes, and received a full convention scholarship to the 2025 Nationals or the 2025-2026 Regionals.
